We are extremely proud to have achieved the GOLD standard Kite Mark award for our PE provision for the FOURTH YEAR IN A ROW - Congratulations to all, with special thanks to Mrs Cribb, Mrs Aylett, Miss Stratton and Steve from South Coast Sports.
The School Games Mark is an awards scheme which rewards schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school. Ofsted use the Mark award as part of their inspection framework and schools can use it as a development tool.
Steve, our PE teacher, and his colleagues from South Coast Sports (SCS), teach excellent lessons across the school and we participate in a variety of competitive and friendly fixtures/events each term.
We aim for every child in Years 1-6 to take part in at least one physical activity club each week. Our wide range of extremely popular sports and physical activity clubs this term includes Netball, Street Dance, Fencing, Tag Rugby, Infant & Junior Football, Stoolball, Ball Games, Multi Sports, "Go Wild", Wacky Races (selected pupils) and Kinball (selected pupils), plus Cross Country & Hockey Clubs which run before school. Click here to view our full list of After-School & Morning Clubs
We actively encourage pupils to write match reports, as well as sharing their achievements from sports/physical activities they are involved in outside school. A selection of these can be found below and on the PE noticeboard in school throughout the year.
Awaiting Date: Sports Leader Training for House Captains & Vice Captains with Steve
November 22nd: Handcross Park School "High 5' Friendly Netball Tournament - Y5/6 team and Y3/4 team
Our team of 5 girls and 5 boys took part in this much anticipated and well attended event. Congratulations to all 10 runners. Of particular note are Finn (Y5), Harriet (Y6) & Jaimeson (Y6) who have all progressed through to the Mid Sussex Area finals on January 16th, and Erykah & Cole who finished in their respective Top 15 - unfortunately as they are currently in Y4 neither are eligible to compete in the Area Final this year, but show exceptional potential for next year's event.
We would like to thank all the parents and grandparents who helped with transport and for their wonderful support & encouragement.
Harriet and Jaimeson have written the following report:
Last year Gymnasts, Swimmers and Horse Riders featured in our Hall of Fame, telling us more about their out of school sporty interests and celebrating some of their achievements.
If you or a group of like minded active friends would like to feature in the Hall of Fame on the website and PE noticeboard, please talk to Mrs Aylett or Mrs Cribb.
Keep staying Safe, Happy and Aiming High!
