At Handcross, we recognise that children develop faster in the first years of their lives than at any other time. We want to ensure a smooth, happy and successful transition from home to nursery by working in partnership with parents to ensure the children have the best start possible to school.

We aim to develop the children personally, socially and emotionally by providing a safe, happy, stimulating environment.

Our Early Years curriculum consists of three prime areas of learning:

  1. Personal, social and emotional development

  2. Communication and language

  3. Physical development

And four specific areas. These are:

  1. Literacy

  2. Mathematics

  3. Understanding the World

  4. Expressive Arts and Design

These seven areas are taught through child-initiated activities and open-ended topics which offer a range of experiences and opportunities using both the indoor and outdoor classrooms.

We will be offering free entitlement (FE) places and from September 2024, any hours in excess of your FE will be charged at £20.00 a session.

If you would like any further information, please send any questions to: nursery@handcross.w-sussex.sch.uk

Full pricing, terms & conditions and application forms are available below.

We use a system called Nursery in A Box which provides online booking, administration & invoicing. When a place has been offered you will receive a username and password to allow you to verify your details and permissions.

Once you have applied, all parents/carers are required to complete the registration process using the Nursery In A Box email that will be sent to all applicants. This needs to be completed within the deadline, otherwise your place may be withdrawn.

A limited number of spaces are available in our wrap around care clubs to provide parents/carers with more options outside of normal nursery hours. Please be aware this provision has been set up to cater for school-aged children and is run separately from the nursery. It is not suitable for under 3s as a rule. Place will be decided on an individual basis, based on your child's needs and staff availability. Those with siblings in school will be prioritised.  When a place has been offered, we will need a signed terms and conditions form before your child starts.
